Studying abroad was the best decision I made at Cornell, and I loved the experience so much I participated in two programs.

How did you live your study? 

As a communication major, I am interested in learning about how we interact with those around us and how we communicate our messages. Often, factors such as culture, language, or location have significant influence on our interactions. Getting to observe these differences, and immersing myself into new cultures and trying to learn new languages, was an incredible opportunity. 

What moment from your time abroad do you treasure the most? 

I don't know that I have one moment I treasure above all others, but one that I will certainly never forget was in Bagan, Myanmar. My friends and I were on our spring break from University of Singapore, and we rented scooters so we could head out at 4 a.m. and watch the sunrise on one of the many beautiful temples that dotted the landscape.

Immediately after daybreak, when the sky was a mixture of warm hues and the light was intensifying, hot air balloons took flight, adorning the scene. I'll never forget how peaceful and beautiful it was to sit with my friends with a first-row view of the wonder as it unfolded. 

If you were to offer advice to a potential study abroad student, what would you say? 

My advice is to just go for it. If you have any reservations, go anyway because the things you will see and learn and experience are one of a kind and incredibly transformative. Studying abroad was the best decision I made at Cornell, and I loved the experience so much I participated in two programs.
