Should I apply to more than one program?
In the majority of cases, you should only apply to one program. Education Abroad and your college will only nominate or endorse you for one program (with one application and course approval form), with the exception of cases where a back-up is recommended or required. If you are concerned about your admission into your preferred program your Education Abroad Advisor can help you determine if a back-up option is appropriate. In all cases, submitting applications for more than two programs is not permitted.
Do I need to prepare separate statements for Cornell and the study abroad program?
There is no need to write separate statements. If you are applying to a Cornell-approved program, you can submit your statement for that program as part of your application for Cornell approval.
If I am approved by Cornell, does that mean I am accepted by my program?
No, you must apply to and be accepted by your program separately. Each program has their own admissions process and reserves the right to admit their own students, but Cornell students do tend to be admitted to programs when they apply early and meet or exceed the requirements.
